Rouges are teh OP class

This post could be subtitled “What I am doing right now”

Don’t you all hate rogues? They are mean, stealthy bastards that sneak up to you from behind hurt, stun and eventually kill you. All the time. They do it in BGs, in the open world and probably even in instances when a boss tries to control you or them.

Well I’ve been leveling a rogue. Which is quite an accident …

When we transferred to Kil’jaeden I wanted to be sure that we had our guild ready and waiting for us first, so I made an alt to get the guild founded. Because rogues are stealthy, I figured it would be the best idea to get a gnome rogue to run to Ironforge quickly to get a guild charter. Because I had no intention to keep her beyond the founding, I gave her green hair and called her “Greenmamba”. This name is absolutely not my naming style, yet it seems most rogues have such wonderful and picturesque names like “Nightsniper”, “Poisonblade” or “Sneakybastard”. To get the money for the charter I needed to level her to 7 or so …

And what do you do when your main becomes boring to play? Somehow I made it to level 10, then 15, then I started buying heirlooms for her and at 18 I ran my first Warsong. Godmode. For real at these levels a rogue with a couple of heirlooms feels invincible. It became even better at 29. One problem: you get an awful lot of XP, if you win the battlegrounds. So right after level 29 you drop back to being canon fodder.

I also found out that even at 29, 39 and 49 there are a lot of players out there who do manage to deal with rogues effectively. My high deathcount in both Warsong and Arathi Basin proves this.

I have to admit that playing a rogue is fun in battlegrounds. Plus 1-on-1 was never easy for me and now I can take out many players, so I am guessing rogue duelling skills are not that complicated.

Yet there are Paladins out there who just keep me stunned and themselves healed – while others just die die die. There are warriors on my level that I can two-hit (Premeditation + Backstab + Eviscerate) and there are those that I really keep losing against. There are mages I can easily kill and those that keep killing me. I really don’t like warlocks and hunters and not because of their pets. The first kill me with fear and dots, the second manage to keep me at a distance once I am visible. And guess what class I hate most? Other rogues. Whoever is visible first gets the other.

The final thing that gets me is when players play together. A rogue is good at taking out loners. Once I am visible I suck (maybe a different spec would help ;) ). Sometimes with Sap and Vanish I manage to kill two people guarding a base. Killing a guarded flag carrier though is next to impossible if they play it smart. Just make me visible and there are so many options for that.

Seeing other players’ reactions against rogues teaches me a lot about how to play effectively against them in the future and reduce some of my frustrations at higher levels with my main. There are many options against all the other classes if only we bother to learn them.

Meanwhile I am having a lot of fun learning to PvP at different levels with my little rogue who has just passed the level 50 mark and is back to canon fodder for another 5 levels.
